Sorrento’s ‘BIG RED FISH’

One of my early projects to start the school year was with the ‘City of Joondalup’s’ Community Art grant. The Kids from ‘Mullaloo Beach Primary School’ created a banner with all their ideas for underwater and above water. Then I had the challenge of incorporating every idea into the mural. The stand out was from a young girl Ava who had this unique shape of a fish that my eye kept drawing to…and after a lot of re-designs I had decided on a final mural painting to cover both sides of the shower block next to the Sorrento Surf Club.

I used all the students ideas directly or indirectly, and even added shapes in the fish as scales for those to enjoy close up.

The students came to site to view the process and each left their paint mark before they went.
